One netiquette rule to follow is "share your knowledge". Screencasting is a great way to share what you know with others. There are many sites on the web where you can find "how to" videos.
Go to the following link and listen to the video on tables. Topic: How to insert table in Word, format bullets, add column, and format. http://www.screencast-o-matic.com/watch/cXV6elXPW . . . it's not perfect . . . After watching the video see how well you can complete the assignment from handout.
When finished discuss how you think you did. How can the video be improved. What mistakes were made on the video? Leave your response to these questions in the comment section here.
Now, go to http://www.screencast-o-matic.com and setup your own account. Record your user name and password on the Word document where you save all your logins. Create a screencast on how to add a your name and filename and path in the footer of a Word document. Post the link to your blog. Before you begin, practice what you want to record. Think about the words you'll use.
There were a couple of mistakes in the video but all in all it got the point through.

ReplyDeleteI think i did pretty well on this. You made a few mistakes in the video but it was pretty good overall. It could be improved by talking more slowly. Justin Shafer

ReplyDeleteI didn't really learn anything new from this video. I only say that because last year I went through a computers class and we were doing formulas in excel. But, this really refreshed my memory and it was nice to see how formulas were done in word.
ReplyDeleteOverall I think this video was very helpful. Some mistakes I caught were that the speaker wasn’t quite loud enough and made an error while trying to add the formula. All in all I liked this video and it helped me create my table.
ReplyDeleteI was able to complete this project! When watching the video. I noticed when realigning the bulleted columns, the "rectangle" was called "triangle" and also called "square" which could cause confusion to students who are unfamiliar with using Microsoft Word. I don't know if this is due to the website or not, but something can can be improved is being able to jump forward in the video. This would help students who had to watch the video a few times to learn the new skill. -J. Weiss

ReplyDeleteI didnt really learn anything from this because in my first trimester computers class we learned how to make a screentoaster. There were a few mistakes in the end with the whole formula thing, but also when you were trying to merge the cells, that didn't go as planned.
ReplyDeleteI already knew these things, but syou made some mistakes. Nothing that really mattered though. I didn't know how to do formulas though, so i learned that.
ReplyDeleteThe video can be improved by showing the whole entire process of making the table instead of already having it made. The video can also give the "measurements on how big the cells should be. Some of the mistakes made on here are that when it starts out it tells you to make a table with 3 rows and 5 columns. The actually table she uses has 5 rows and 4 columns. Another mistake is that she tells you to align your sum to the left when you have to align it to the right. She also tells you to align "Total Price" to the left when she aligned it to the right of the merged cells. She really should fix those because if some one was just listening to the screencast and not watching it, they would mess up the table. AS
ReplyDeleteThere was one mistake that I caught during the screencast. The number of the columns and rows were completely off. It said 5x3 when it was really 4x5. Other than that, I found this very useful in making a table.

I learned a few new things by watching your screencast. I did not realize that I could change my alignment of the bullets and change the design of a table to the color I wanted.
ReplyDeleteThe only mistakes that I noticed during the video had to do with capitalization and spacing.
The video had a lot of great information.

I didn't really learn anything new from this video, except how to do the formula. So it was pretty helpful.
ReplyDeleteIn the video there was a few mistakes that I saw, but they weren't to big.
I don't think there's any way to imporve it.
I thought that there were no mistakes in the video. A few stumble in talking but, it went straight to the point.
ReplyDeleteI think I did the table right but the video didn't teach me anything because I had a computers class last year. The only mistake I saw was that you said the wrong number of columns and rows than what was really on the table used.

ReplyDeleteI didnt learn much, I already learned how to do this. There was a few mistakes in the video but it gets to the point.
ReplyDeleteI think i followed the instructions pretty good and got it all done right the correct way
ReplyDeleteI didnt learn anything new but for someone who doesnt know how to do this already this would be a very informational video. There were no significant mistakes and i had no problem completing the assignment.
ReplyDeleteI think I did pretty good on the table, I really dident learn anything from the video because I did alot of simular tables last year but I found no mistakes in the video and i thought it was a great refresher since i havent done it in a while

ReplyDeleteit was a easy assignment but the only problem i could see was that you skipped a large ammount of the video.
ReplyDeleteI didnt really lear anything from this video because I had computers class last year.
ReplyDeleteI only caught two mistakes in this video. One i caught was when she said it was 5x3, when it was really 4x5, the other mistake I caught was when she kept saying align the prices to the left, when you are really supposed to align it to the right.

I have already been taught all of this stuff in past classess. Some mistakes I caught was the box count for the table was off. Aslo she did not speak loud enough at some parts i could not understand what she was trying to say.
ReplyDeletei didnt learn anything from this screencast. i didnt catch any mistakes.

ReplyDeleteMost of the errors were discussed. When creating your own screen casts we've found it's best to keep them short and simple - no more than 3 minutes long. Terminology used should be consistent. Volume should be loud and clear. Practice several times before recording – you’ll find you'll have less errors and less frustration. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI think for the most part the video was understanding. But, i did catch a few mistakes and things you could do to improve your video. First of all, you should talk a little louder. Also, you said to do 3 by 5 boxes, when it was really 4 by 5.
